All the books in the series are fun to read aloud, and it’s great to see the recurring characters, but I have a soft spot for the original and this first book is my favourite of all the Hairy Maclary books. This is a fantastic read-aloud book that has rightfully become a classic. He’s the toughest tom in town and I can make a really good scary meowing sound, just like Scarface Claw. The best best best bit of the book is when they all see Scarface Claw. I like the birds pecking at the seeds in one picture but the best picture is Hairy Maclary looking in the rubbish bin. I also like Bottomley Potts, covered in spots. I know all the dogs now and my favourite one is Schnitzel von Krumm with the very low tum. I love this book! This is a very fun book to listen to because the rhymes are GREAT. Baby librarian Tilly and her mum Jen review the fun classic Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy by Lynley Dodd.
